Paris

PARIS Contd....

B: Bread Roll with butter and jam and fruit compote, OJ and Tea.
L: Plane crap hard (stale) bread and butter roll.
Arrived In Paris, got to accommodation, on a stroll to stretch our legs, to ease the jet lag, found the local pub, so undertook further quality control tasks, and sampled a couple of the Amstel beers 5.5%, on tap, which is a Belgian blonde ale, went down very well, rating 8.0, Lizzie also tried the local Rose which was also well received and rated an 8.0.
D: Tried a couple of halal steak burgers and fries from the local takeaway, very simple but tasty take away meal, rating 7.0.

Day 3

The "Local" Boulangerie

Fresh Market Fish

Paris Our accommodation was 200 metres from a Boulangerie (Bakery) with fresh baguettes and pasties and French sweet delights,

Farmers Market in Nanterre

and on Wednesdays and Saturdays there was a huge flea market, fresh fruit and vegetables, meat and fish market incorporated. It is stone fruit season here, so we got some delicious apricots, china flat peaches, bananas, apples oranges, really flavoursome tomatoes, lettuce and cucumber at Australian prices, and we were to learn about1/4 of downtown Paris prices, a bargain to be sure.

B: Scrambled Eggs on Fresh Baguette, OJ and Green Tea
L: Chicken, cheese, lettuce and tomato baguette, chocolate croissant, rating 7.0
Our $4 lunch incl drink and dessert
D: Home made fresh ham and salad with fresh baguette, rating 7.0, sampled a couple of sweets from local bakery, strawberry cake and apricot and custard flan, which proved that looks can be deceiving, as they looked 10s, but tasted more like a 6.5.
Day 4 Paris

B: Green Tea, OJ, Fresh banana baguette
L: Chicken, cheese, lettuce and tomato baguette, rating 7.0, accompanied by a vanilla slice, much nicer sweet, rating 8.5.
Local Butcher Shop, Plus Plus
D: Our accommodation location was superb, shops, pub close by, and a butcher shop, but with a difference, each morning they loaded up a large rotisserie with seasoned and spiced (turmeric, curry, cumin and others) chickens, and potatoes, which they sold as they were cooked throughout the day, we of course had endured these delicious odours for a of couple of days, so when we got back from our day sightseeing, we got half a chicken, unfortunately, they were sold out of potatoes, so it was a simple chicken and salad, with balsamic vinegar and olive oil and fresh  baguette, rating 7.5.

Day 5 Paris

B: Fruit, Green Tea, OJ, Ham on fresh baguette.
L: Simple Margarita pizza, not the best I have had but not the worst either, rating 7.5
D: Sampled some spaghetti bolognaise which was just ok, rating 6.5, followed by Tiramisu, which was very tasty, rating 8.0.

Day 6 Paris

B: Fruit and coffee.
L: Lamb kebab with chilli sauce and chips, a nice change and tasty, rating 7.5.
D: Finally got in early enough at the butcher to get ½ chicken and roasted/basted spiced potatoes, it was market day again, so we topped up the salad vegetables, so a home -made meal, rotisserie chicken with potatoes and salad with balsamic vinegar and olive oil and fresh baguette, rating 7.5.

Day 7 Paris

B: Green tea, fruit.
Cochon de lait
L: Went to a French restaurant, to try French menu, so I had snails in garlic butter, roast duck breast with orange sauce, real French fires cooked in duck fat, carrots and zucchini, with an orange citrus sauce, followed by profiteroles, with a slight difference from what I had previously sampled, the pastry had ice cream inside, in lieu of custard or cream, and a warm chocolate sauce, it was delicious, and capped off a great French meal, rating 8.5. Also sampled a couple of glasses of Kronnenbourg (Belgian) beer, again a light ale, went well with the duck, rating 7.5.

Kronnenbourg Beer and French Cider
Menu du Touriste
Garlic Escargo

Real French Onion Soup

Breast of Duck

Dessert - Creme Caramel and Profertiroles

D: After such a delightful lunch, had a light meal, fresh warm baguette, with egg and lettuce, rating 7.0, followed by a disappointing vanilla slice, rating 6.5. Conclusion the local bakery did great bread (baguettes), but fell down on their pastries/sweets.  Bit more quality control, had a couple more extra large Kronnenbourg cans, rating 7.5.
Kronnenbourg Beer
